We were looking for a cat recently, walking down the neighborhood and calling him. (no result). But afterward, my wife had this idea - have a chip implanted that reads GPS to know where they are, and transmits some radio signal, maybe wifi, so your phone can find them. Well, obviously this takes energy, so you need to charge it, and since its an implant, this has to be wireless charging like the new cell phones. So you’ll have to have a few chargers around his cat bed, food bowl, and other places.
But this is all technology that is available today.
And you could use this on Grandpa too. And children.
Ethically this should only be volunteers or non-compus mentis people. But I’m wondering if Walmart would put in readers, so we can know if Grandpa has wandered away and is shopping. Other places for readers? Traffic lights? I don’t know, but I’ll bet there are corporations that might like to part of a solution that works for missing children, missing grandparents, missing cars, missing wallets, and missing cats?
I know there are technical gaps here - feel free to run with this idea, and manufacture these. My wife says she will buy one. (for the cat, I hope)

We really should do more of this for Alzheimer’s patients.
